We're looking for a spatial analyst / modellor / GIS wizard with interest in coral reef management to join an exciting project in Indonesia and the Philippines. The position is based at the University of Queensland (Brisbane) but will involve considerable travel to work with partners in the region and elsewhere.

A full-time position until August 2018, is available to join a research team developing conservation and management strategies for coral reefs in the Coral Triangle (principally Indonesia and the Philippines). The spatial analyst will take a lead role in developing algorithms and models that quantify the vulnerability and resilience of coral reefs and how reef ecosystem services can be incorporated within marine spatial plans, including marine reserve networks. This is part of a World Bank funded project involving partners from the University of Queensland, University of the Philippines, Indonesian Government, University of California Davis, Cornell University, Bogor Agricultural University and Hasanuddin University. Periodic travel is required throughout the region although the position is based in Brisbane. Field work and the provision of training courses are expected.
