Indeed, Gregor, it is old news. Coral-List subscribers can see that the
subject of deleterious effects of sunscreen on corals goes back to at
least 2000, with a post by Kalli De Meyer,

although there was surprisingly a great gulf of no dialog on the subject
until about 2007.
If you put the following search term in your Google Chrome browser,
site://coral.aoml.noaa.gov/pipermail/coral-list/ "sunscreen"
You will find 127 results over the length of the more modern Coral-List
messages, although sometimes the word "sunscreen" does not relate
directly to coral health.
