Assistant Professor in Genomics

Genomics - The Department of Biology (http://unf.edu/coas/biology/) at the University of North Florida (Jacksonville) seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 1, 2016.  We are searching for an outstanding scientist who utilizes genomics to address important questions in evolution, ecology, systematics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, or environmental biology.

The UNF Department of Biology offers baccalaureate degrees in Biology with areas of concentration in Biomedical Sciences, Molecular/Cell Biology and Technology, Coastal Biology, and Ecology and Evolution.  Masters level degrees are also offered with a focus on Ecology/Evolutionary Biology or Microbiology/Molecular Biology.  Furthermore, because many Biology faculty conduct research focused on coastal ecosystems and wildlife, the department has been designated as a center for excellence in this field via development of the Flagship Program in Coastal Biology.  Applicants with expertise in any of these fields are welcome.

Responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate teaching (General Biology, Genetics and specialty upper level courses), maintaining an active, externally funded research program and contributing to the department’s service mission. The minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. in Biology or related discipline with teaching or research experience.  Evidence of teaching excellence is preferred.

Developmental Biology - The Department of Biology (http://unf.edu/coas/biology/) at the University of North Florida (Jacksonville) seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 1, 2016..  We are searching for an outstanding scientist who addresses contemporary questions in developmental biology.  The Biology Department hosts a strong Flagship Program in Coastal Biology, an active pre-medical training program, and a vital Masters of Science program.

Responsibilities include teaching (introductory level courses, either Genetics or Molecular / Cellular Biology, and upper level courses in developmental biology), maintaining an active, externally funded research program, and contributing to the department’s service mission. The minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. in Biology or related discipline with teaching or research experience.  Evidence of teaching excellence is preferred.
