Hello, Ruben –
That’s what I thought. 30%! Wow! Power plants are clearly a huge contributor of CO2 to the atmosphere. A good incentive for society to gradually move towards renewable, sustainable alternate forms of power/energy generation.
Thank you.
Cheers,
Paul

Subject: power plants
Hi Paul,
Power plants globally emitted 10813480272 tons of CO2 in 2009 (http://carma.org/dig#top). Globally emissions from all sectors are around 35 giggatons of CO2. So about 30% of emissions of CO2 are due to power plants.
Have a great day,
Ruben
