Hello, Ruben – 

 

That’s what I thought.  30%!  Wow!  Power plants are clearly a huge contributor of CO2 to the atmosphere.  A good incentive for society to gradually move towards renewable, sustainable alternate forms of power/energy generation.

Hi Paul,

Power plants globally emitted 10813480272 tons of CO2 in 2009 (http://carma.org/dig#top). Globally emissions from all sectors are around 35 giggatons of CO2. So about 30% of emissions of CO2 are due to power plants.
