Just a reminder that the deadline for submitting abstracts to ICRS for
this summer's
conference is almost here. If you are doing work that trains or engages the
public, we would like to draw your attention to the following session.

#90 *Building local and global capacity to reverse coral reef decline*

Recognizing and understanding stressors and threats to coral reefs leads to
calls to action. Calls to action require public and political will and
support. Coral reef researchers, educators and communicators are
developing
innovative strategies to engage the public and build their knowledge
base,
as well as sustainably train the next generation of scientists. In some
cases, these efforts are already translating into advances in political,
management and even funding response. From long term
multi-organizational
reef research training programs, to successful use of traditional media
and
more, this session highlights these stories through presentation,
    discussion and demonstration.
