    We would like to announce the availability of a Cooperative
Institute of Marine and Atmospheric Studies (University of Miami)
position as Research Associate II in coral reef bioinformatics.  The
successful applicant will work with coral biologists, oceanographers,
and environmental microbiologists at NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic and
Meteorological Laboratory, Ocean Chemistry and Ecosystems Division, in

a brief description of the position:

    The successful candidate will conduct bioinformatic analysis of
    sequence data collected from corals (holobiont - tissue,
    zooxanthella, and microbiome) and environmental (e.g., seawater)
    samples. The appointee will distill and compare large sequence data
    sets to provide comparative metagenomic and metatranscriptomic
    analysis for both prokaryotic and eukaryotic (coral) sequences,
    including assessments relative to environmental metadata.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of a B.S. degree or equivalent in a project-relevant
    discipline.
    • At least two years of relevant work experience in bioinformatics
    or related biological or computer science field with demonstrated
    expertise and experience in bioinformatics. Proficiency in writing
    and using scripts for bioinformatic analysis in at least one
    computer language commonly used for such is required.
    • Proficiency with environmental metagenomic, metatranscriptomic,
    and coral holobiont applications is highly desired.
