[Coral-List] One MPhil Caribaea Initiative Scholarship at UWI (Barbados)

Dear coral-list,

* The Caribaea Initiative, a non-profit organization seeking to support the
development of tertiary education and research on animal biodiversity and
wildlife management in the Caribbean, and the University of the West Indies
(UWI) at Cave Hill (Barbados) are offering ONE full postgraduate
scholarship for a 2-year Master of Philosophy at UWI Cave Hill. The
successful candidate will work on a research project focusing on
determinants of habitat use in cleaner gobies in the coral reefs of
Barbados. The project is part of a collaboration with the University of
Neuchâtel (Switzerland). The scholarship will cover all University fees and
the student’s living costs as well as research costs for the two-year
period. The deadline for applications is Nov 30th 2016. The project is
scheduled to start in January 2017.*

*Eligibility: The scholarship application process is limited to CARICOM
nationals who have graduated within the last 5 years with a BSc (or
equivalent) in ecology/biology (or related field) with a minimum GPA of
3.0. Candidates will have to demonstrate that they are proficient in
English. The research will involve SCUBA diving and handling of small
boats; experience in these areas is desirable, but not essential. However,
candidates must know how to swim.*

*All applications should include 1) three (3) copies of the UWI
Postgraduate Scholarship form, (2) two (2) referee reports; 2) a cover
letter explaining long-term career goals and justifying need of financial
support to conduct post-graduate studies; 3) a curriculum vitae; 4) a copy
of University transcripts; and 5) proof of CARICOM citizenship. Further
documents might be required from shortlisted candidates.*
