Dear Coral-list,

We are offering an internship studying the effects of climate change on coral and coralline algal physiology in Prof Malcolm McCulloch's lab at the University of Western Australia in Perth. The internship would be offered for a minimum of 2 months, though candidates will be preferred who can stay for several months. The preferred start date would be May/June 2017, but this is flexible.
The ideal candidate will have a background in marine biology or related fields, good oral and written English skills, pay high attention to detail and be able to work independently as well as in an international research team.. Experience with running mesocosm experiments, statistical data analysis, physiological techniques etc is desirable but not required.
Intern responsibilities:
* Assist with daily maintenance of mesocosm experiments
* Assist with and independently conduct physiological analyses to assess climate change impacts on corals and coralline algae
*          Conduct seawater analyses
*          Analyse and interpret data
* Potentially conduct fieldwork I remote locations

We offer:
* Training in coral and coralline algae culturing techniques
* Training in a wide range of physiological techniques
* Training in analysing seawater carbonate chemistry
* Participation in fieldwork (depending on the time of the year)
* Training in data analysis and interpretation
* High-quality international research and mentoring environment

The intern will be trained and supervised by Drs Verena Schoepf, Christopher Cornwall and Steeve Comeau. The internship is unpaid. For more info and expressions of interest, please send an email with your CV and contact details of two referees to: christopher.cornwall at uwa.edu.au
