The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is holding a meeting to discuss, once again (as it did in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2014 and now 2017) whether or not to start killing endangered Goliath Groupers in Florida..
Here's a short review of the scientific evidence to continue protection of Goliath Grouper. This is a 2014 blog post still valid today
https://grouperluna.wordpress.com/2014/01/08/goliath-grouper-moratorium-must-continue/
If you want to give Goliath Groupers a chance at survival, you can do one (or more) of the following:
1) Attend the FWC public meeting on February 8, 2017 and give your testimony in support of continued Goliath Grouper protection.
Meeting details & see 4B:
http://www.myfwc.com/about/commission/commission-meetings/2017/february/08/agenda/
2) Call FWC Executive Director, Nick Wiley, and tell him to continue protection of Goliath Grouper and why it's important to you. It's ok if you leave the message with his assistant. All calls are registered.
Call Nick Wiley at 850-487-3796, BEFORE February 8th.
3) Email FWC Commissioners, Commissioners at myfwc.com
and ask them to continue protection of Goliath Grouper and why it's important to you.
The Goliath Groupers send their regards
