scientific diving & CoraL REEF ECOLOGY research program

Duration: June through 19 August 2017

The Intern will be a resident of CIEE Summer Residence at Hamlet Oasis. S/he is responsible for supporting the Director, faculty and staff at the CIEE Research Station Bonaire in their efforts to assure the quality and success of the program.  Specifically, the Intern is responsible for supporting CIEE faculty with the dive safety program and assisting with the summer academic programs for university students. Typical duties include oversight of student residents, assisting faculty and students with research, assisting with diving for research and education, assisting the Dive Safety Officer with implementation of the Dive Safety Program and assisting the Administrative Staff with day-to-day operations of the field station and office.

Minimum qualifications for the internship: BA/BS in Biology with an emphasis in Marine Biology or Ecology (MSc preferred), experience leading student groups and conducting research, AAUS Scientific Diver certification (or equivalent); dive equipment including full length wet suit; current certifications in Emergency First Responder, and Oxygen Rescue; scientific diving experience (minimum of 50 dives logged); DAN insurance and a comprehensive AAUS dive physical

Compensation: Shared accommodation at the CIEE Residence will be provided to the successful applicant. Airfare will be reimbursed up to $750 and a stipend of $400/month will be provided. Lunches and dinners are provided from arrival through 12 August 2017. There are no meals provided from 12 - 19 August.
