Since the Coral Reef Science and Cyberinfrastructure Network (CRESCYNT) has been operational, two strongly recurring concerns of coral reef scientists that would enable more powerful research have been:
(1) data management challenges, and
(2) data integration challenges.

In response, we are tremendously excited to announce two 4-day workshops focused on these topics to be held in March 2018 at NCEAS with their excellent trainer-facilitators. Each workshop can accommodate up to 20 on-site participants. Expenses (including travel) will be covered by an NSF EarthCube grant to CRESCYNT.

Please find more workshop details and application links at http://crescyntblog.org.

Both workshops are structured as workathons, with essential training plus hands-on work and focused outcomes. Workflows developed and lessons learned will be broadly shared.

Application links are at http://crescyntblog.org:
(1) CRESCYNT Data Science for Coral Reefs Workshop 1: Data Rescue, Mar 7-10, 2018
(2) CRESCYNT Data Science for Coral Reefs Workshop 2: Data Modeling, Data Integration and Team Science, Mar 12-15, 2018

Please share with students and colleagues who may benefit from these workshops.

Warmest regards,
Ouida Meier
on behalf of Ruth D. Gates, PI

PS - Due to grant restrictions we can only provide financial support for US participants. EVERYONE is invited to use the forms to convey interests even if unable to attend, as outcomes will be shared.
