[Coral-List] Sargassum proliferation in SW Atlantic

Dear Mark and Ronaldo: Glad to see these reports from eye sightings. This is actually not surprising - back in January we predicted that 2018 will be another “Sargassum Year”, with perhaps record-high bloom size. Attached is a 1-page bulletin we distributed to many groups, which has been updated every month.
Also, we have a near real-time Sargassum Watch System (SaWS) to monitor large Sargassum rafts in the Caribbean and west Atlantic:

Our last significant Sargassum episode was in February of this year and the last really major proliferation was in July 2017.
