*Winter and Spring Internships with the Ocean Acidification Program at Mote
Marine Laboratory*

The Ocean Acidification Program offers 3 different internships in Sarasota,
FL and Summerland Key, FL. The OA Program in Sarasota and Summerland Key
mainly study physiological effects of changing ocean pH, as well as
temperature and other abiotic stressors, on marine organisms found within
coastal ecosystems and coral reefs. The Ecosystem Response to Environmental
Change program focuses on understanding the effects of climate change on
species interactions and coral reef communities. All programs may include
field studies characterizing water quality of coastal marine ecosystems.

In each program, interns will learn techniques in measuring carbonate/ocean
chemistry, animal physiology, and water quality. Interns will gain
experience in coral husbandry and maintenance of an ocean acidification
water system, as well as the laboratory techniques required to collect,
preserve, and process water samples.
