[Coral-List] Carbon sequestering

Hi Coral List,

Happy Friday, although you may receive this post Monday. I understand there is a net release of CO2 from growing coral, however, does the heterotrophic feeding of coral possibly offset this release? When corals consume phytoplankton, or any other micro organisms including bacteria do they sequester CO2? Basic question I know.
