Dear Coral-listers,

I would like to introduce you to the newly formed Institute of Marine Research (IMR), based in Dauin, Philippines, accepting applications for their Research Assistant field courses from February 2019 (tuition fees apply).

This grassroots non-profit organisation aims to conduct long term and fine scale research on coastal marine ecosystems, using scientific evidence to educate, transform and encourage locally led conservation strategies within the Philippines.

IMR prides itself in being different from other volunteer organisations by utilising advanced scientific methodologies, including diver operated stereo video systems and 3Dimensional reef modelling.

A variety of options are offered, from 4 week Research Assistant programs to 3 month Research Fellowships, each able to be combined with Dive Master or Dive Instructor training in conjunction with IMR partners - Instructor Development Philippines (www.instructordevelopmentphilippines.com <http://www.instructordevelopmentphilippines.com/>).

Situated in the Visayas region, IMR has coastal reefs on its doorstep and the world renowned Apo Island a short boat ride away!
