Dear all,

In approximately two weeks from now, the French non-profit organisation
UNSEEN ("Underwater Scientific Exploration for Education"), in
collaboration with the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries from
Universitas Udayana (UNUD) of Bali, will launch a challenging research and
exploration project in Bali, Indonesia, named "Cleaning Session in the
Twilight Zone". The main aim will be to explore the deeper parts of the
reef in order to understand their roles and importance for emblematic fish
species, notably for the bump-head Sunfish, *Mola alexandrini*, for
conservation purposes. We will notably investigate the potential existence
of "deep cleaning stations". Non-invasive techniques, such as photo and
videography, will allow us to document these crucial mesophotic coral
habitats during deep technical dives, using close-circuit rebreathers.
Abiotic parameters will also be measured thanks to CTD probes and permanent
logger deployments. This exciting pilot project is supported by a grant
from the National Geographic Society and the French Embassy in Indonesia,
alongside our technical partners. You can find more information and follow
the project on our official website (unseen-expeditions.com), our social
media (Facebook <https://web.facebook.com/unseenexpeditions> & Instagram
<https://www.instagram.com/unseenexpeditions>: @unseenexpeditions) and our
Open Explorer's blog from National Geographic (

I hope you'll enjoy it!

If you have any questions, suggestions, collaboration wishes or simply want
to discuss, feel free to drop us an email!

All the best,

Alexis Chappuis & I Gede Hendrawan
