Hi Coral-listers!
I recently started work in the Bahamas at an educational non-profit, and
while its amazing to get out on the boats daily, it hurts my heart that
we're anchoring everyday. The staff try their best to anchor in sand, but
our anchor inevitably ends up hitting some corals, or digging up precious
seagrass. When I asked them about moorings, they said that local fishermen
either use the moorings as fishing spots and fish out the area, or people
cut the rope of the mooring and buoy to use for their own fishing purposes.
I'm exploring options in submerged moorings, but I thought I'd reach out to
you all and see if you have any advice or suggestions!
Thanks so much!
