Dear Coral-listers,

The following email was posted to the sclerochronology list-serve, but in
case anyone working on coral growth banding is not on that list, I thought
I would post it here. The North American Dendroecological Fieldwork (NADEF)
is a wonderful way to learn techniques developed by the tree-ring community
that are applicable to coral (and shell, otoliths, etc.) growth banding
projects. I, for one, would love to see more coral growth-banders take
advantage of these fundamental techniques, critical for understanding, for
example, whether your chronology is accurate! Attending NADEF is a great
way to learn many of these techniques, and to build your network.

Hi all,

This is a reminder that there will be a sclerochronology section in this
year’s North American Dendroecology Fieldweek, which will be held July 20-29
th near Cody, Wyoming, USA. The group objective is to develop a crossdated
chronology (or chronologies) from bivalve and/or fish species, depending on
group interests. Please visit the NADEF website, see sclerochronology
reports from past fieldweeks, or contact me for more information about the
scope of the projects conducted.
