72-Hours on Dongsha Atoll in South China Sea

When: May, 2020, exact date to be announced

Where: Dongsha Atoll, South China Sea (20 degree North)

Who: Scientists

What: A ~70 ft yacht is chartered to allow day/night continual diving or
other scientific observations in the lagoon or the forereefs of Dongsha
Atoll. The total duration of the cruise is 7 days:
Kaohsiung-Dongsha-Kaohsiung. A duration of 4 days spent on Dongsha Atoll.

Stay on the atoll could be extended using another ship as transport between
Kaohsiung and Dongsha. Small research vessels between 10-42 ft are
available on Dongsha Island.

How:

Write a concise proposal to get a berth or two on the yacht.

Dongsha Atoll Research Station (DARS) arranges transport between Kaohsiung
city and Dongsha Atoll (1 d cruise), as well as rooms and board on Dongsha
Island.

International scientists are responsible for flights to and out of
Kaohsiung (KHH).

The shipment of equipment should be arranged well before the cruise date.

A limited number of Dongsha Award is available to cover international
