[Coral-List] Climate change and overfishing

Hi all,

I would like to share with you a very interesting report just out from
UBC. The following two quotes by the senior author of that report also
apply to coral reefs and suggest why local/regional management of
anthropogenic activities, that are negatively impacting coral reefs, is
essential as we put in place policies that will reduce GHG emissions.

“If you have a system that is already on its knees and then you have
another pressure that is hitting it, like climate change or overfishing,
that will make the stock less resilient.”

“If you are very healthy, you have more ability to withstand the stress,
