Great editorial in Science by NASA Climate Scientist Peter Kalmus
discussing the importance of flying less. He encourages scientists to
consider creative conference approaches that do not rely on flying around
the world to participate.

"Although aviation accounts for only 2% of global carbon emissions, flying
less could be a powerful lever for cultural shift. In some sectors,
including academia, flying reflects freedom and even success. If scientists
fly less, it could communicate climate urgency more effectively."

Currently, for ICRS 2020, people have volunteered to organize remote
meetings in Honolulu, the Caribbean, Columbia, and Western Australia. More
information on these meetings coming soon.
