[Coral-List] Aspergilosis

With time to kill during my Covid sequestration I’ve been attending lots of webinars and watching online lectures by various experts from all over. In one of the lectures a professor of marine ecologist (not a coral reef specialist) mentioned that the sea fan disease, aspergillosis, was not caused by the soil fungus Aspergillus sydowii, but by a related fungus. This was the first I’ve heard such a claim, and was wondering if any coral disease specialist here on the list might comment on the accuracy of that statement, and if it’s true what pathogen is responsible?
