Dear coral-list members,

I would like to share our new paper on changes in reef fish-based ecosystem
services following mass coral bleaching 2016 in southern Japan, published
last week in Sustainability Science (Springer).

This paper quantified potential stocks of reef fish-based ecosystem
services (fisheries production, aquarium fish production, recreational
diving, and seaweed control) before and after the bleaching event using
field survey data and information from relevant websites and administrative
statistics.
We found rapid decline of potential stocks of all the ecosystem services
following the mass bleaching, but also suggest even management for local
disturbances can mitigate the interactive effect of climate change on the
potential stocks.
