I am pleased to share that the USVI Department of Planning and Natural Resources is accepting applications for their Coral Reef Initiative Coordinator position within the Division of Coastal Zone Management.
Basic information

  * Job Classification: Fisheries Biologist II
  * Job Title: Coral Reef Initiative Coordinator
  *   Salary: $44,255 annually
  *   Location: US Virgin Islands
  *   Job type: Classified
  *   Job number: 201901264
  *   Closing Date: March 18, 2020
General description: The Coral Reef Initiative Coordinator (CRIC) is responsible for daily management the USVI Coral Reef Program. The position is coral-focused, but the CRIC will be involved in projects relating to other connected organisms and ecosystems (fish, mangroves, seagrass, beaches and watersheds) so broad experience in tropical island ecology is preferred. The successful applicant will be expected to work with other local partners to plan, manage and implement local projects while staying in-the-loop regarding national coral initiatives. Projects vary widely depending on needs and capacity but can involve research, restoration, planning, mitigation, policy and outreach. The position requires some fieldwork, SCUBA certification, and familiarity with coral reef ecosystems, but also involves a significant portion of time spent in the office and/or meetings. In addition, some regional and national travel will be expected.
