For those keenly engaged or interested in the recent discussions about deeper coral ecosystems.

Much of the current literature on the biology, diversity, connectivity, and conservation of many of these features is presented and discussed in volume 12 of the Coral Reefs of the World book series: Mesophotic Coral Ecosystems (Loya et al. 2019).
The book is edited by Yossi Loya, Kimberly Puglise, and Tom Bridge, and has fifty-three chapters.
The first section addresses 'Regional Variation in Mesophotic Coral Ecosystems', with multiple case regions presented from across the major ocean basins.
The second section presents recent knowledge on the 'Environments, Biodiversity, and Ecology of Mesophotic Coral Ecosystems'.
Two other sections of interest are on the connectivity between shallow and mesophotic coral ecosystems and on the threats, management and conservation of the biotic assemblages living on these deeper features. The final section focusses on current knowledge gaps and future research directions.
