I completely agree that dead corals, esp. once their skeletons have
collapsed, will not cut wave energy, and waves will hit the shore harder
and erode it faster and cause expensive damage.  And I agree that an ounce
of prevention is worth a pound of cure, cost of prevention would surely be
much less than battling or repairing erosion.  Both very good points.  I
just think if we don't get climate change under control and local impacts
under control, the money and effort spent on restoration will be wasted.
So I agree with your first paragraph.  And I agree with anyone who says it
is super hard to do those things.  I just think they are absolutely vital
to the survival of corals.    Cheers, Doug
