[Coral-List] Postdoc position: Species delimitation, phylogenetics and biogeography of octocorals

Post-doc position on octocoral taxonomy, phylogenetics and biogeography
We invite applications for a full-time position as post-doctoral research fellow at the School of Zoology, George S. Wise Faculty of Life Sciences, Tel Aviv University for a period of two years. The post-doc will be based at TAU becoming an imperative part of a joint project funded by the NSF-BSF and entitled: "The Indo-Pacific zooxanthellate octocorals: an integrated approach to species delimitation, phylogenetics and biogeography". The project is led by Prof. Hudi Benayahu (TAU) and Prof. Cathy McFadden (Harvey Mudd College, Claremont (CA). The post doc will oversee the morphological characterization of soft coral species; travel to European museums to examine and sample mainly valuable type specimens; assist with mentoring M.Sc. and undergraduate research students; and participate in a planned workshop and field trips. S/he will also travel to the McFadden lab to learn genetic and bioinformatic aspects of the project, and will subsequently transfer the knowledge and skills gained back to Benayahu's lab.

Weekly seminars are frequently related to those topics. The Interuniversity Institute for Marine Sciences in Eilat https://iui-eilat.huji.ac.il/ frequently hosts world renowned experts and scholars whose research is relevant to the project.
Start date of the position is October 1, 2021.
Applicants are requested to submit by no later than August 6, 2021 a PhD diploma or certificate of eligibility noting the date the degree was awarded within the past 5 years; a letter of interest; a current CV including a list of publications; and recommendation letters from the PhD supervisor(s) and from a researcher affiliated to a recognized academic institution.
