*Hawaii Coral Restoration Nursery Technician**.*  *CLOSING DATE:  March 18,
2021.* Regular, Full-Time, Non-Civil Service position with the University
of Hawaii Social Science Research Institute (SSRI), Hawai‘i Coral Reef
Initiative (HCRI), located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.  Primary work location
will be at the State of Hawaii’s Division of Aquatic Resources (DAR) Hawaii
Coral Restoration Nursery, a land-based government-run coral nursery in
Honolulu, Hawaii. *MINIMUM MONTHLY SALARY:*  $3,000/Mon.  *DUTIES:  *Assists
with daily husbandry operations of the Coral Restoration Nursery, adhering
to their established standards and protocols working with Hawaiian coral.
Conducts meticulous scientific procedures involved with tissue-level
interactions with coral animals and algal plants, husbandry of living
cultures and settlement of corals up through large colony stages. Conducts
basic water chemistry and aquaculture procedures involved with maintenance
of coral animals and colonies, maintenance of living cultures, and
settlement of corals up to colony stages. Assists with the day-to-day
maintenance, repair and minor fabrications related to the aquaculture
facility. This includes, but not limited to, an indoor lab and nursery
facilities (e.g. fragmentation and grow-out areas, seawater supplies, and
source cultures) and outdoor microcosm pools and raceways. Cleans and
maintains saltwater aquaria, outdoor aquaculture tanks, and raceways in a
manner that ensures the maintenance, growth, and reproductive viability of
the contained marine life. Participates in field coral investigations;
identifies/collects coral specimens; and transports appropriate colonies to
the nursery for fragmentation and grow-out.  Conducts transplantation of
nurseries corals into pre-approved reef outplant sites. Assists in the
assessment of coral and algal impacts and coral reef monitoring activities
relative to mitigation and restoration activities.  Assists with coral
nursery laboratory and aquaculture research, and collects and compiles
data. Assists with the production of periodic reports relative to coral
nursery operations, coral generation, and usage/success in habitat
alterations. *Successful applicants should have direct experience in
aquarium systems and husbandry*, preferably associated with keeping corals
alive in both closed and open systems. *For more information, including
