Hello Coral List,
The Coral Reef Alliance and the Allen Coral Atlas are hosting a training
session that will provide guidance in conducting three types of field
surveys to assess coral bleaching worldwide. This information will help
ground-truth the satellite-based bleaching algorithm developed by the Allen
Coral Atlas that can detect potential coral bleaching at ~10m2 resolution.
The training will feature the following survey methods and data platforms:
a. Belt Transect (ReefCheck) and Global Reef Tracker
b. Rapid bleaching protocol (Wildlife Conservation Society) and MERMAID
c. Georeferenced photo-quadrats (The University of Queensland) and ReefCloud
Please feel free to share with students or anyone who may be interested in
monitoring coral bleaching.
