Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) is seeking applicants for the position of Resilience Advisor. The position, which is based in Palau, is part of the GRBF’s Resilient Reefs Initiative (RRI).

 

RRI is a global initiative to support World Heritage-listed coral reef sites and the communities that depend on them to adapt to climate change and local threats. The Initiative is partnering with PICRC and the Koror State Government to design and deliver integrated solutions that build the resilience of coral reefs and the communities that depend on them. As part of this exciting initiative, a suitably qualified Resilience Advisor is being recruited for the Palau project site.

 

The Resilience Advisor will provide strategic and technical support to Palau’s overall reef and community resilience efforts, working locally on the whole reef system, in conjunction with all stakeholders (managing authorities, local communities, researchers, socio-professional bodies). This role will facilitate and support the partnership with RRI including sharing lessons and co-creating with peers and reef managers in Palau and around the world, and working with scientific partners and practitioners to leverage critical resources and tools for local action. 

 

Applicants must have:
Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Sustainable Development or other closely related field. Bachelor’s Degree in abovementioned fields with five years of relevant experience will also be considered.
Minimum of five years management experience in working in a diverse organization such as a government agency or large non-profit organization. Experience with implementing projects/activities involving resilience-based planning and natural resources management, etc. and/or leading strategic planning and operations in key areas of public policy, reef management and/or community development is preferred.
