The Reef Resilience Network <https://nature.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=6cd869450695afc219d3f0b7f&id=b75d6f52af&e=7dc79c923d>, in partnership with Global Mangrove Watch partners, is pleased to announce the Global Mangrove Watch Mentored Online Course featuring three lessons, live webinars, and discussion with global experts. This course enables participants to confidently navigate the Global Mangrove Watch (GMW) platform and learn how to utilize its data and tools in support of the effective management of mangroves.
 
The free online course is accessible to participants around the world, takes approximately six hours to complete, and consists of three lessons:
Lesson 1: Introduction to Global Mangrove Watch
Lesson 2: Remote Sensing of Mangroves
Lesson 3: Mangrove Blue Carbon

Collectively, these lessons provide a comprehensive overview of how remote sensing is used to map mangroves and how the GMW platform can be used to access and interpret mangrove data, generate reports, and download GIS files. Course participants will also learn about the capacity of mangroves to store carbon, and the role mangroves can play in climate mitigation and policy globally. Upon course completion, participants will be able to download a Certificate of Completion.

The lessons were developed by Aberystwyth University, International Union for Conservation of Nature, Mangrove Action Project, Reef Resilience Network, The Nature Conservancy, University of Cambridge, and Wetlands International.

Important Dates: 
June 1 - 20: Course registration is open. Registration closes June 20.
June 21 - 28: Course begins. Watch the recorded Orientation Webinar, complete Lesson 1, and participate in discussion with course mentors and other participants.
June 28: Webinar 2: Global Mangrove Watch in Policy with experts.
June 29 - July 12: Complete Lessons 2 & 3 and participate in discussion with course mentors and other participants.
July 12: Webinar 3: Mangrove Blue Carbon & Course Closing with experts.
