[Coral-List] [EXTERNAL] sunscreens threaten coral survival

I have a feeling that almost every chemical is likely to be toxic at some
concentration. I remember many years ago there was a news item, an
instructor assigned nursing students an experiment where they were to drink
a large quantity of water and measure urine output over time. One student
actually died (not good!!).
The relevant factor is how does the lethal concentration or the
minimum effective concentration compare to concentrations found in nature?
Not always stressed.
As I read the popular account, it sounded to me like this chemical
did not in fact kill the one coral species it was tested on. It might kill
them when they are bleached, but that wasn't actually demonstrated. It did
kill the anemones tested. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
      Cheers, Doug
