[Coral-List] sunscreens threaten coral survival

Thanks for that link Willa. (https://setac.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/etc.4948)

We have talked about sunscreens and corals here before and this paper adds important data and perspective to the discussion about the full extent of this threat. It is also curious to note that the public appeal promoting the idea that sunscreens can be harmful to corals has been so willingly embraced. Seems like all parties involved promptly got behind the campaign to protect coral reefs by actively working to limit exposure to oxybenzone. Wouldn’t it be nice if that same level of enthusiasm and support could be harnessed to rally around the novel idea of trying to save coral reefs by actually taking on the major stressors?
