[Coral-List] New equipment for the controle of the exotic invader octocoral XENIIDAE "Unomia stolonifera", to be tested coming soon in the "Mochima National Park" (Venezuela, Southern Caribbean), is announced !!!!

Dear collegues & friends, According to informations provided in advance by
the "Unomia Project" (Venezuela), it was revealed that they will soon test/
prove in the waters of the "Mochima National Park " (locality where is
found the largest geographical concentration in the country of the invasive
"Unomia stolonifera") a new state-of-the-art technology manufactured
through an succeeded alliance/ agreement between national scientists and
foreign engineers, with the idea of removing the more than three (3)
million square meters that the species already occupies today in the
region, killing their native species by suffocation. Such equipment,
according indicated, must emit shock waves to remove the "Unomia" from the
substrates where it is attached, then going through a high-temperature
centrifuge that will pulverize the octocoral and return it to the sea as an
"organic particle" that will not cause damage to the ecosystem. Finally,
"Unomia Project" manifested that, once the operation of the equipment has
been tested/verified, the results and further details in this respect will
