A new field guidebook has been published, "Corals of Hawaii, 2nd edition."
It includes a new, large (167 page) section, "Introduction to coral reef
ecology" that also includes coral biology and biology of other organisms on
reefs, threats, etc., and applies to coral reefs word-wide.
