The non-profit Nature Foundation in Sint Maarten is looking for an undergraduate intern to join us for three to five months, beginning in October/November 2023. The time period is generally more conducive to the Dutch undergraduate schedule, but is also attractive to recent graduates within 2 years or students planning on taking a gap semester.

As part of the CORENA (COastal REsilience Needs Assessment) team, the intern will partake in fieldwork, data analysis, and programming for the development of:

  *   coastal habitat maps
  *   marine biodiversity inventories
  *   marine ecosystem assessments
  *   spatial planning school curriculum
  *   behavioral change campaign

This internship will be conducted under the supervision of a PhD tropical marine ecologist, a Masters holder in wildlife conservation and management, and a bachelors holder in environmental studies.

Students working on a thesis as part of their undergraduate curriculum are encouraged to develop a research proposal within the scope of CORENA’s objectives. The chosen intern will be provided with an attractive monthly stipend for the duration of their internship and a travel stipend up to $1000 for international candidates. Local and international candidates are encouraged to apply, but applicants must research their immigration and visa laws to legally participate in the internship.

Please email corena at naturefoundationsxm.org for the Terms of Reference, which includes the internship description, candidate requirements, project details, and application process. Applications must be submitted by September 18, 2023, so the request must be made before this point.

Sincerely,

Sabrine Brismeur (she/her)
