“MAPPING TECHNOLOGIES AND MONITORING TECHNIQUES IN CORAL REEF ENVIRONMENTS”
- III Edition -
Marhe, Marine Research and Higher Education Center - Rep. of Maldives

It is essential to enhance our understanding of coral reefs to adapt to
changing environmental conditions caused by both direct human activities
and climate change. Thanks to advanced technology, we are now able to
create detailed maps of coral reef environments using Uncrewed Aerial
Vehicles (UAVs or drones), underwater photogrammetry, and equipment like
Multibeam Echosounder (MBES). This allows us to study and plan effective
monitoring actions to preserve these valuable ecosystems.

The "Mapping Technologies and Monitoring Techniques in Coral Reef
Environments" III Edition provides an excellent chance to gain hands-on
experience in data acquisition and post-processing techniques using
different equipment, such as aerial drones and underwater sensors. The
program concentrates on mapping coastal and nearshore environments while
assessing the impact of human activities on them. This framework offers an
incredible opportunity to enhance practical skills in the field of coral
reef environment monitoring.
