A new article on the US Endangered Species Act, which is now 50 years old,
has a set of relatively short, perspective-type articles, including one:

Palumbi and Wara, "Pushing boundaries with new interventions" on corals.

Most of the rest of the articles are also relevant to coral reefs though
they usually focus on terrestrial species. For example, one is on CITES,
which is important for regulating trade between countries, including
species on coral reefs that are listed on CITES, such as corals and giant
clams. CITES is now 50 years old as well. It has been signed by 183
countries (which by signing agree to pass national legislation to
administer and enforce it), it has "legal teeth" and is one of the most
successful conservation laws ever and covers 40,900 species currently!)

The whole collection of essays is open-access and appeared in the Dec issue
of Science.

World subsidies for fossil fuels reached an all-time high of over $1
TRILLION in 2022, the last year for which data is available. The subsidies
MUST end.
