[Coral-List] The saga of the invasive exotic soft coral XENIIDAE "Unomia stolonifera" continues in the Southern Caribbean region of Venezuela !!!!!!

Dear collegues & friends,

According to new recent informations provided by the "Unomia Project"
(Venezuela), the geographic-environmental expansion saga of the invasive
exotic indo-pacific soft coral (octocoral XENIIDAE) *Unomia stolonifera*
continues without control in the coastal waters of this country, Southeast
Caribbean sector.

Introduced between the years 2000 - 2005 with commercial purposes by an
"unidentified acuarist", presence of this cnidarian  today harms the
environments of the "Mochima National Marine Park", to East in Anzoátegui &
Sucre States (... reported in at least 3,000 hectares inside this Park !)
and other localities to West (... significant impacts were identified both
in the protected area of the "Cuare Wildlife Refuge", in Falcón State, and
in the "Valle Seco" beach, in Aragua State !).
