[Coral-List] Light sensors

Dear colleagues, 

 

Our group is in the process of ordering a light meter, but we're undecided
about which is the best type of sensor, with opinions about evenly split
between a cosine-corrected (flat) or spherical sensor.  Our main use of the
instrument would be to measure light at the surface of corals - i.e.  we're
not that concerned about the water column.  External opinions that we've
managed to canvas so far have been about as divided as our own.  Can anybody
from the list offer any clarity?
