The Ocean makes up 70% of our climate and its large size is the essential reason that humanity enjoys a stable, life-sustaining climate. Despite of this the ocean is rarely talked about when talking about climate related problems or solutions. In this session we hear from leading scientists on how the Ocean is impacted by climate change and how it could be used as a solution to decarbonize faster and capture carbon. A special focus will be on Sargassum, a macroalgae with unique properties that might hold the key to several climate solutions. Even though our speakers are scientists it is an event aimed at the general public and no knowledge about marine science is needed to join.

Speakers: Dr. Ray Schmitt, WHOI - How Oceans are impacted by the climate and essential for our survival but hardly talked about

Dr. Legena Henry - A biofuel made out of Sargassum macroalgae and Rum distillery waste water could help Barbados to being fossil fuel free in 2030
Jorge Vegas - Algae products that can substitute fossil fuel products
Dr. Mar Fernandez Mendez - large scale Sargassum macroalgae farm for carbon capture
