Iberostar Hotels and Resorts through its pioneering movement, Wave of
Change, is seeking a Coral Lab Coordinator to support its coral husbandry
initiatives and oversee operations of its coral lab in the Dominican
Republic.

Husbandry responsibilities include the management of a functional life
support system that maximizes coral growth. The oversight role involves
working closely with local staff and national and/or international partners
to maximize the potential of the Bavaro Coral Lab to attract academic
programs and visiting researchers that foster innovation in reef
restoration while accelerating the Costal Health Goals of Iberostar.

This is a full time schedule position based in Bavaro, Dominican Republic

Salary:

Salary will be commensurate with market and practical experience

Benefits:

As part of this benefits package, we provide lodging within our Bavaro
complex (depending on availability) or a housing stipend, and meals in
accordance with company policy and position, and other benefits offered
according to Dominican Republic labor policies.

Technical knowledge


   -

   Academic training in related areas: marine biology, biology,
   environmental sciences, natural resources, or similar.
   -

   2 years of practical experience in the management of marine
   laboratories.
   -

   Experience in the operation and repair of closed, open and / or hybrid
   salt water systems.
   -

   General experience in the cultivation of marine animals, specifically
   Caribbean coral species.


Abilities


   -

   Fluent English level. Spanish - Advanced
   -

   Experience in understanding technical scientific data and the ability to
   take that data and present it concisely and in language according to your
   audience.
   -

   Ability to learn new programs, procedures, and protocols quickly.
   -

   Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate them
   to your personnel to achieve the established objectives.
   -

   Be resourceful in identifying and solving problems.
   -

   Curiosity and attitude to learn frequently under minimal supervision.


Administrative requirements


   -

   Ability to communicate effectively with various departments and internal
   and external clients.
   -

   Able to solve problems independently.
   -

   Ability to organize objectives, tasks and timelines.


Beneficial qualifications


   -

   Advanced Open Water certification or higher with more than 40 logged
   dives.
   -

   Experience in the use of monitoring equipment and multiparametric
   sensors (pH, O2, PAM, among others).
   -

   Knowledge of water quality monitoring, understanding and interpretation
   of the meaning of water quality data.
   -

   Experience in the propagation of corals via fragmentation, ideally in
   the Caribbean region.


Location

Iberostar Hotels and Resorts complex in Bavaro, La Altagracia province.
However, the nature of the work might require the coordinator to
occasionally travel for work in countries or areas where Iberostar
properties are located.
