Announcing a new University of Florida/ Florida Sea Grant full time contract position with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to assist the Coral Protection and Restoration (CPR) program with administration of funding, program and project coordination, and information management via a Budget Coordinator. The Coordinator is a core member of the DEP CPR Team and will be responsible for working directly with the CPR Administrator to set and implement high-level priorities and goals and to ensure that the CPR Team's budgets are aligned with stony coral tissue loss disease (SCTLD) response goals and other state priorities. The Coordinator is also intended to be a conduit of information related to programmatic budget activities and management priorities. The Coordinator will lead funding and administrative efforts and assist program and project coordination including maintaining partnerships and ensuring effective information exchange to increase effectiveness of CPR efforts to protect and restore Florida's Coral Reef.

The overall goals of the CPR Program include:

1) Guide national coral reef policy through the US Coral Reef Task Force and unite Florida's agencies to ensure effective state-wide coral reef-related authorities, policies and procedures

2) Provide leadership for stony coral tissue loss disease (SCTLD) response, restoration of Florida's Coral Reef, and regional water quality priorities - focus on Biscayne Bay

3) Effectively administer state funding (approximately $29 million annually) for Florida's Coral Reef priorities. Funds support:

  *   Ongoing SCTLD response efforts
  *   Research to improve coral reproductive success, genetic diversity, and resilience
  *   Maintenance and expansion of land-based coral nursery aquaria
  *   Youth engagement in STEM and coral restoration
  *   Water quality priorities in Southeast Region to ensure healthy habitat - with a focus on Biscayne Bay
