[Coral-List] PhD position in coral ecology & physiology at IRD in New Caledonia

Dear coral reef community, 
We are seeking a motivated candidate for a PhD position at the Institute of Research for Development's (IRD) ENTROPIE laboratory in New Caledonia (https://umr-entropie.ird.nc) under the supervision of Drs Mohsen Kayal and Fanny Houlbreque. The PhD investigation will combine ecological and physiological approaches to characterize drivers of coral dynamics in remote coral reefs of the Coral Sea Natural Park. The PhD candidate will investigate the links between coral physiological state (associated symbiont communities, photosynthesis, respiration, fecundity, bleaching sensitivity) and population dynamics (survival, growth, reproduction), and implications for coral trajectory in changing environments. Applicants should hold a Master's degree in ecology, marine biology, or equivalent. 
Required skills: - mastery of statistical tools (GLMs, coding in R) - good level of scientific writing - field experience
Preferred skills: - French professional diving certificate (CAH), or equivalent - Python programming language
