The Department of Biology within the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Florida (UNF) invites applications for a state-funded, tenure-track assistant professor position in biochemistry. UNF is a Carnegie Community Engaged Institution located in Jacksonville, Florida and is home to 17,000 students and six colleges. The Department of Biology at UNF has two main pillars of research focus, including an established Coastal and Marine Biology program and a new Biomedical Sciences program. The department supports an active Master of Science graduate degree program.
Teaching responsibilities for this position will include introductory level courses, an upper-level course in biochemistry, and courses in the candidate's areas of specialty that support the biology undergraduate and graduate curriculum. Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of scholarship that will develop into a well-funded, internationally recognized research program in biochemistry. Opportunities exist to establish collaborations within UNF and with regional high profile biomedical research institutions including the Mayo Clinic at Jacksonville. Evidence of research and teaching excellence and contributions to University and Departmental service missions are expected.

Required Qualifications:
* Ph.D. in biochemistry or a related discipline;
* Commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses;
* Strong commitment to mentoring and supervising undergraduate and Masters degree research students;
* Excellence in research demonstrated by a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals;
* Demonstrated potential to establish an independent research program.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Teaching experience at the university level;
* Postdoctoral experience;
* Extramural research support.
