NOAA is seeking comments on Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Restoration Blueprint and Management Plan

In response to concerns about threats facing the Florida Keys marine environment, NOAA conducted a comprehensive review of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary (FKNMS) management plan, zoning plan, and regulations. NOAA is currently seeking public comment on the FKNMS Restoration Blueprint and draft Management Plan, both of which are aimed at continuing to address ongoing threats and building the resilience of the ecosystem to further withstand those threats that cannot be as easily mitigated, such as those related to climate change. The public comment period includes four public meetings, three of which will be held this week - Tuesday in Tavernier, Wednesday in Marathon and Thursday in Key West from 6-9pm - and the final which will be held at the Sanctuary Advisory Council meeting on October 18 starting at 9am in Marathon. Written comment can also be submitted through the Federal eRulemaking Portal, www.regulations.gov<http://www.regulations.gov>, or by mail through October 26th.

FKNMS has compiled a number of different tools for exploring the proposed changes, including interactive maps, static maps with descriptions of the proposed changes for each zone, videos, fact sheets, and a Q&A based on actual public questions from previous meetings. Please consider reviewing the document(s) and providing comment.
