Postdoctoral Research Scholar (Coral Biochemistry)

The Marine Biochem Research Laboratory (Dr. Liza M. Roger, Assistant Professor) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar to pursue projects related to Coral Biochemistry, specifically how reef-building corals sense and response to environmental change at the molecular level (e.g. oxidative stress, lipid peroxidation). Research focus is on developing fundamental understanding to generate potential treatments that can be deployed in the field.

Initial appointment is made on a fiscal year (12-month), full-time, appointment for one year with subsequent annual renewal based upon satisfactory performance and availability of resources. This position is a benefits-eligible appointment with no tenure implications. Anticipated start date is between January - April 2023.

Candidates will be expected to adhere to laboratory culture (justice, equity, diversity and inclusion) and laboratory safety, marine aquaria husbandry, conduct research and experiments (in the lab and in the field) related to current grant funding, data analysis and reporting (presentations, protocols and peer-reviewed publications), contribute to grant writing and project idea development, and contribute to the supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.

Qualifications
·         Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Marine Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related areas.
·         Candidates with cross training are greatly encouraged to apply.
·         No more than five years of previous postdoctoral experience, nor have been employed previously as an assistant professor, associate professor or professor on the tenure track.
·         Non-US citizens should be eligible for a J-1 Scholar visa for the duration of the fellowship.
