About this exciting opportunity
With a key leadership role in the delivery of science outcomes, you will
lead the RRAP Managing Entity function of the Reef Restoration and
Adaptation Program (RRAP), which is the largest global R&D program seeking
to assist coral reefs to survive climate change. You will achieve this by
leading effective research planning and management, stakeholder engagement
and strategic direction for growth and innovation across the program,
currently comprising of 34 multi-institutional contracts, with several
thousand deliverables and over 900 cross project dependencies. Your
leadership will bring direction to a small interdisciplinary, high
functioning team working to deliver the RRAP Managing Entity objectives for
this large multi-institutional R&D program.

The RRAP ME has several primary functions:
1: Program Management – projects establishment variations,
milestone/deliverable assessments and payments, risk and HSE management,
dependency and critical path management, communications, traditional owner
engagement, field work coordination.
2: Program Development – establishing processes to review R&D programs to
identify gaps to achieving targeted operational interventions and modifying
programs to respond to R&D outcomes.
3: Partnerships – fostering process to help establish partnerships.

Working closely with the RRAP Executive Director in the delivery of RRAP
and other program areas as identified, your position provides leadership in
designing and establishing the systems (technology, infrastructure, people,
industries) and development processes required to deliver the targeted R&D
outcomes. Engaging with high profile organisations across the world to form
collaborative project teams capable of designing and delivering targeted
outcomes.
There may be future changes over the life of the role, as the current R&D
phase finishes in mid-2024 with activities underway to secure additional
investment and enable it to continue. In parallel at scale deployments are
commencing in 2025. Depending on outcomes WRT ongoing R&D funding this
position could have a role in these deployments or other programs within
AIMS.

About you
Drawing on your degree in Engineering or Science (of relevance to the
marine field), your broad understanding of the national and international
science and technology landscape, and your substantial experience in
successfully leading complex national or multinational programs and
projects with multiple organisational partners, you will have amassed the
capabilities required to deliver the RRAP and other program areas as
identified.

In achieving past objectives, you will have results in developing and
maintaining meaningful stakeholder networks, along with your understanding
of mechanisms and processes for acquiring funding for research and
development, has ensured that these relationships have resulted in positive
outcomes for the research program.  Additionally, your extensive experience
with applying engineering systems thinking, at both an initiative and
project scale, with novel solutions to achieve complex missions and
outcomes will enable you to provide leadership to facilitate the
development, implementation, design and integration of new marine
technologies to meet the needs of the research community, government
agencies and industry.

innovation, collaboration, creativity and excellence. Your well-developed
interpersonal and communication capabilities and strong organisational
skills will be supported by your experience in leading and coordinating a
multidisciplinary project team that has delivered new technology solutions
to complex problems.

appointment, depending on the relevant Department of Home Affairs current

can impact the ability for AIMS to consider sponsorship for vacancies. AIMS
must meet the requirements of the Department of Home Affairs immigration
