Dear Colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to the session “Rethinking and Future-Proofing Ecological Resilience” at the 2024 AGU Ocean Sciences Meeting scheduled for 18-23 February 2024 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.

If your research corresponds with this topic, please submit your abstract for an oral presentation to Marine Ecology and Biodiversity session ME008 by September 13.

See below for the link to submit abstracts and read more about the session.

Session description: This session will explore ecosystem resilience through the lens of rethinking traditional definitions and future-proofing ecosystem research. Systems such as coral reefs, kelp and mangrove forests, and seagrass meadows have experienced severe and ongoing disturbances, resulting in degraded states that bear little resemblance to their original forms, yet continue to support diverse life. As a result, there is a need to reevaluate conventional metrics used to define and forecast resilience of these ecosystems as they shift into novel states. This session welcomes studies of all marine ecosystems, and emphasis will be placed on research using state-of-the-art techniques, including high-performance computing, advanced imaging, 'omics, and other approaches that can increase research throughput and resolution and have the potential to reveal novel insights about drivers and thresholds of ecosystem resilience.
