Open Rank Tenure-Track Professor in Coastal or Estuarine Physical Oceanography

The Institute of Environment at Florida International University seeks a Coastal or Estuarine Physical Oceanographer, with expertise in the movement of water and the transport of solutes, sediments, and/or organisms in coastal waters, bays, and estuaries for the position of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor. We welcome applicants who use observation, experimental, and/or modeling approaches in their research, and who will add to our strong multidisciplinary expertise in the science of coastlines and coastal oceans. The ideal candidate will collaborate with scientists of other disciplines including biologists, ecologists, chemists and biogeochemists, hydrologists, and engineers. While we seek candidates with expertise applicable to a broad range of locations, we are particularly interested in those with a desire to work in the subtropical/tropical coastlines of Florida and the greater Caribbean. The position is funded as part of the FIU Biscayne Bay Program. This is an open-rank, tenure-track, or tenured search with a tenure home in the Department of Earth and Environment in FIU's College of Arts, Sciences and Education. The hire will be made at the rank appropriate to the applicant's experience. Research activities will be supported by FIU's Institute of Environment, an FIU Preeminent Program. This new hire will be expected to teach upper-division undergraduate courses in Physical Oceanography and graduate courses in their area of expertise.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a research program (external funding, peer-reviewed scholarly work, and innovative research contributions), mentor graduate/undergraduate students, teach/adapt/develop transformative courses in the broad areas of Oceanography, and provide service to the Department/College and Institute. A Ph.D. in relevant areas of oceanography, hydrology, marine science, environmental science, or engineering and research experience is required.
